Wow! We made it through our first full week! It has been chock full of new learning and new procedures. I am happy to report that your children are becoming much more comfortable with the routines of our class and we are beginning to make progress. This week we completed Benchmark testing in reading, math and spelling. I, for one, am sick of testing. Next week we will begin with real instruction. We are getting ready to publish our first written piece. We used a memory inspired by the posters you helped your children create. We are beginning to write and solve word problems. We are researching and examining local and "imported" ants. We are becoming adept at reading silently while in a group. The first homework packet went home today and is due back, completed by next Thursday. If you need a refresher on what is involved, check in the packet you received during Open House or shoot me an email with your questions. Thank you so much for attending Open House. It is my pleasure to meet and work with you. We are off to a great start. Thank you so much for all you do to support me and our classroom. Enjoy your long weekend.
