We have been having a wonderful week! The children are back from Thanksgiving and ready to learn and grow.
Reading: We are continuing to improve our informational text retells using webbing. The children are becoming proficient at this in group work. Next week we will begin working individually.
Math: We began our place value unit. The children have been using a 100s chart, identifying tens and ones, writing numbers in different ways and using the "greater gator" sign.
Writing: We are working on building suspense in a narrative using word referrents and the "Magic of 3s" strategy. When you look at your child's writing, please notice the complexity that that are starting to show.
Science: We have begun our study of magnets. This is a non-mandatory unit that allows for experimentation. The students LOVE it.
Computer: I introduced the class to Scootpad and showed them how to access the sight. You are welcome to use this resource at home. Next week I will introduce the reading portion of the site.
Thank you to all of you who have attended conferences. The last round is next week. I also appreciate your generosity toward our Food Drive. We already have a full box! You are amazing.
Homework resumes this week. The packets went home today, Thursday. The book order will be released next Thursday. Remember, if you'd like me to hold your child's books as a gift, please let me know.
Have a great weekend!
