We have had another successful and productive week!  Your children continue to amaze me with their enthusiasm and excitement for learning.

I have NOT assigned homework for this weekend since we have a short week coming up.  However...I did send home the Read to Succeed paper outlining a way to encourage students to read in their free time.  Your child needs to read a total of 6 hours between now and January 11th.  You should complete the chart, initial it, then return it to me so that I can submit it to 6 Flags.  Your child will receive a free pass to Great Escape in Lake George and you will be eligible for discounts.  I participated in this program last year with a lot of success.  It is entirely optional but if you would like to be a part, please start keeping track of your child's reading now.  Remember, this does not count reading for homework.

Next Tuesday is our first conference day.  I sent a copy of the slip you signed up on home with your child this week.  If you can't make our scheduled time, please let me know.  I have just about finished all the individual reading screenings.  All of the others are finished.  It is heart-warming to see the gains your children are making.
