Thank you for checking in!  This first full week back has been loaded with activities and learning.
In the computer lab, we worked for the last time with Ms. Jones, the BC Tech Coach.  She helped us with an introduction to PowerPoint.  We will be using PowerPoint to write our Biography reports.  All research and writing will be completed in school.  Tomorrow you will be receiving an additional homework assignment with the regular packet.  It is the Community Project.  I believe the form is self-explanatory.  The children are very excited about the project.  They have 3 weeks to complete it.

Math:  We completed our Topic 6 test and also did another timed fact test.  The results went home yesterday with your children.
Reading:  We have begun instruction of Biographies.  Your children have been reading assorted biographies and retelling information learned in various ways: mini-books, posters, writing questions.
Social Studies:  We completed and sent home our World Maps.  The children also practiced reading a grid.  We have begun instruction on Communities.  Mrs. Tobin volunteered to teach our Jr. Achievement Program.  This week was just an introduction to a community, its layout and its helpers.
Writing:  We completed our required writing assessment for January and began our new unit of instruction; writing informational text.

I appreciate your cooperation in sending in snow gear for your children.  It allows them to fully partake of recess and our PE program.  Also, I have received many scarf donations for the Grassroots Givers Campaign.  This drive will run through next week.  Small monetary donations are also accepted.  Thank you so much for your cooperation and support!  Please call with any questions or concerns.  I like to nip issues in the bud.  Have a great weekend.
