Happy March!  It certainly is coming in like a lion.  I hope the lamb analogy holds true as well.

This is a bittersweet time for us.  Miss Knoblock will be leaving our class tomorrow.  She has done a wonderful job and made a tremendous amount of growth.  She will be going to a preschool in Clifton Park for her next placement.  She will be missed.

Many thanks to those of you who "liked" and commented on the GNA website.  I checked last night and we had 294 likes!  Thank you too for the comments made.  They help Richie to continue to receive funding through Hannaford for that excellent program.  I will let you know if and when I hear about the contest results.

I have completed my report card screenings in reading, spelling and math.  You should have received your child's fact test scores yesterday.

Reading--We have been reading poetry and discussing the "Craft" ideas that the author uses to create meaning.  The children have been  identifying these ideas, listing examples, and discussing how it helps promote reading.  We have also been working on using close reading strategies.  That is a method of reading informational text for deeper understanding and application of strategies.  Our school will be hosting James Preller next week.  He is the author of the Jigsaw Jones series.  We have been reading his books and discussing components of mysteries in preparation or his visit.

Math--The students are completing the unit on measurement this week.  Next week we will be returning to subtraction regrouping.

Health--Miss Knoblock is wrapping up her portion of our Healthy Body unit.  She continues to stress proper nutrition, germs, and how to identify and relieve stress.

Thank you for your continuing interest and support.  It's hard to believe that we are only 67 school days from third grade!
