Thank you for checking in with our class!  We have a lot to report.

This week we have continued to work on many of our previous units.

In Reading:  The students are continuing to read 2 nonfiction sources for their state report.  They are taking pertinent facts from the texts and will be adding them to their written report.  We have also used an on-line resource in the computer lab.

In Math:  We continue to practice higher level regrouping skills and logical problem solving activities.  We are also continuing work on counting money and geometry skills.  Any help you can provide with adding unlike coins will be appreciated!

In Science:  The children have been working with a beam balance and an equal arm balance to compare weights.

In Writing:  The students have been reading and writing poetry.  I am very pleased with their imaginations and vivid word choices.  They seem to like the freedom of the unit.

Next week, I will starting all the year end assessments.  Your children will be assessed individually in reading.  The District cumulative math exam should be the last week in May. I will test the facts for the final time in June.   I will also be testing the priority words.  We will finish our formal spelling program this week.  Thank you for all your help and support.  This is a very busy time!
