We are really getting into the home stretch now! As of this morning, only 18 school days to go! YIKES!
We are continuing to pack our days!
In reading: The students are taking the information they took from the state books and are creating either posters or ABC books to display their knowledge. IT is amazing to see their research come to life!
In math: We are continuing to practice regrouping into the thousands place. We are also reviewing geometry and counting money. Since we are in a debit/credit card society, many children are not receiving the opportunities they normally would. We have been using money each day at school. Please allow them to practice at home with coins (half dollar and dollar coins, too).
In science: We are continuing to work in the Balancing and Weighing unit. The children are now using standard units to weigh objects and not just comparing them. This hands on unit is a lot of fun. Your children are loving the experiments.
In writing: The students are examining language used in poems and mental images that poems provide. I am amazed at the depth of some of their thoughts and feelings.
Author James Preller visited with our class on Wednesday sharing some of his books and his motivation for writing. He was quite enjoyable. The children were spellbound.
Thank you for taking your children to vote. The winning snack choice was Tostitos by a small margin...Oh, and the budget passed too. :)
Have a great long weekend!
