What a crazy week! We had picture day, Election Day, and Veterans Day. We went to watch Mrs. Raffe's Antics show. And the icing on the cake...Lip Sync. Although, we were busy with many things we still managed to get some work done.
Reading: The students are now working with partners on nonfiction retells. They have begun to scaffold material independently and categorize facts appropriately. I love seeing their progress.
Math: We are continuing to work on arrays and repeated addition. The students have been creating arrays using objects. They also draw arrays and both write and solve word problems using repeated addition.
Writing: We are adding satisfying endings to our work. The students need to end their pieces with an idea, thought, feeling or reflection. I am pleased with the progress they are all showing.
Word Work: The students used the program "Spelling City". It is linked to this blog. They enjoyed it and it is a fine way to practice spelling and vocabulary.
Social Studies: We have completed our study of Veterans Day with the assembly today. Thank you for all the talks and history you have shared with your child about this important holiday.
Thank you to the first round of parents who volunteered in our classroom. It is wonderful to have your assistance. We get so much more finished and the children get such beneficial feedback. I really appreciate all your help. Have a great long weekend and Thank a Vet!
