Happy Halloween!  I hope you had as great a day as we did!  Many thanks for all the supplies, goodies and volunteers.  You made our day a success!

In reading this week we continued to work with informational texts.  The children are using the nonfiction conventions, reversing questions to write answers, and locating evidence in texts.  Next week we will begin informational retells.  The children will learn how to scaffold information and use a web for accurate retells.

In math, we are completing our work on subtraction strategies.  The children have shown huge gains in speed and accuracy.  I am very proud of them.  Next week we will be taking the District Math assessment.

In writing, we are working on writing varied sentence starters for details in our work rather than just "It had" or "It was".  We used the Halloween themed projects to write descriptions of our Spooky evening, skeletons, monsters and witches.

All parents are invited to attend our Veterans Day assembly on 11/09 at 2:20.  Please have your child wear red, white and blue on that day.  If you have a veteran in your family who will be attending, please send me his/her name, rank, and branch of service so that we may honor them that day.

I will be working at the Turkey Shoot on Thursday (11/08) evening at the second grade basket.  Don't forget to check out the Book Fair that evening as well.

Again, thank you for the help and support you give me each day and for each project and activity.  I couldn't do it without you!
