Thank goodness the cold snap has broken! In its place though, we have been left with a petri dish of germs. Many children are sick and I am a mess as well. Please encourage your children to wash their hands often!
I have decided to start to include the children in the production of this blog. I will ask them on Wednesdays at the end of school to think about the week and tell me what information they would like to see relayed to their parents. Here goes...
3 Reminders
1. Our class created a poster with Miss Knoblock to display in the lobby at the Berkshire Bank Grand Opening.
2. The Community Projects are due on Thursday, February 7 before school starts. We will be sharing them with other second grades in the school. Parents are invited to visit at 2:10. You will get a chance to see and comment on the children's projects. At 2:30, we will go to the computer lab and you will have an opportunity to see the PowerPoints your children have been working so hard on.
3. Because of the community projects, there will be NO REGULAR WRITTEN HOMEWORK this week. Children are still required to read nightly and practice their spelling words.
Math: We continued with regrouping in class. We also used calculators and did some problem solving.
Reading: The students completed research for their biographies. They also had small group reading comprehension instruction from Ms. Knoblock. At read aloud, we have been reading and discussing Greek myths and their characteristics.
Writing: We continued to work on our biography drafts and added to our PowerPoints.
Social Studies: We made a poster for Berkshire Bank and we read about different types of
communities.
iPads: The students were introduced to 2 new logic aps for problem solving. They are Rush Hour and Cross Fingers.
Again, thank you for your support and kindness! I look forward to seeing you at Berkshire Bank on Saturday morning and at our Community Fair on Thursday at 2:10. Have a great weekend.
