This has been a wonderful week! Your children are settling into their routines and starting to blossom!
Reading: We continued to work on HOW to read with a partner or individually. The children are building their independent reading stamina and continuing to work on fluency. I have finished screening all students so I feel that now I have a good handle on where to start their instruction.
Math: We are working on the concept of part-part-whole. Many students have difficulty with this. We have been using unifix cubes for hands on instruction. We are also stressing identification of key words in word problems that help us determine whether to add or subtract ( ie. join, more than, fewer than, left, in all).
Science: Our study of ants is continuing. We are determined what makes an ant an ant, the characteristics of insects, and some of the ants' community roles. Next week we will begin work on our book to be published.
Writing: We are continuing to work on writing between the lines, indenting, margins, and writing complete thoughts with details included. I am already seeing improvement in this area.
Computer Lab: We went to the computer lab. all students successfully logged on with their individual user names and passwords. We practiced math skills on ABCya (link is attached).
Thank you to everyone who ordered from our book order. I released it yesterday and it should arrive in about 2 weeks. Also, thank you for reviewing and returning your child's homework. They received a new packet today. It will be due NEXT Thursday.
As always, thank you for your continuing kind words and interest. Have a great weekend.
