As always, I am proud of your children!  They are developing into real students willing to take risks and accept challenges.

Reading--We are continuing to develop the necessary skills for stations and a successful reading workshop.  We are continuing to work on writing Reading Responses and rereading for fluency and expression.

Math--We are developing addition strategies.  This week we used the "make a 10" strategy and used doubles and "near doubles". to solve number sentences.  I am working with your child to develop automaticity with fact knowledge.  You may be seeing enrichment pages come home, as well as the regular colored math pages.  These enrichment pages show that your child is willing and able to accept additional math challenges.

Science--We are completing our required study of ants.  Next week we will begin using research skills in nonfiction to write our own Ant Book.

Writing--We are beginning to work on story leads and development of a more details using transitional words.  We have completed our introduction and plan to begin our more rigorous Writing Workshop next week.

Thank you so much for your continued interest and support.  I love having you as a part of my class.
Have a great weekend.
