Our short week is flying by!  We completed many projects and started many more.

Reading:  This week we completed synthesizing information that we gathered from our biographies and notes.  The children are working on developing main ideas.  We made Wilburs with Mr. Betor's class to go along with Charlotte's Web.

Math:  We completed our unit on Mental Math and have begun addition regrouping.  It is a fun concept and your children are doing welll with it.

Writing:  We have begun writing informational pieces.  We are categorizing the information from our biographies and writing organized reports.  We are also working on making PowerPoints .  The kids have completed 2 slides and imported pictures for both.  Now that they are familiar with the procedure, I expect we will go faster.

Social Studies:  We are continuing to work on locations, nicknames and basic facts about states in the United States.  The children seem to view it mainly as a game.

Thank you to everyone who has been working so hard with your children on math facts.  Katie, James and Luke earned their Xtra Math certificates this week. This will really help as we get into the later part of the year.  Also, thank you for sending your children prepared for a very cold recess time!
HAve a great weekend.
