We have a lot of news and updates for you!

Reminders...
1.  Valentine boxes with your child's name on them are due in school on February 14th.  We can't accept them earlier due to fire laws.
2.  The PowerPoint presentations that we made will be available for viewing on February 14th in the computer lab at 1:15 - 1:45 (immediately preceding our party).
3.  The school is participating in Jump Rope for Heart.  It is sponsored by the American Heart Association.  Children who donate $5 to this worthy cause will receive a  rubber ducky lanyard.
4.  The Valentine's Day party is Friday, February 14th from 1:45-2:45.  All are welcome.
5.  You should have received the results of your child's February timed fact tests on Tuesday.
6.  The next conference day is Tuesday February 11th.  I am booked solid that day and will try to keep to a strict schedule.

The children have been busily working this week.
Reading:  We have been reading about American symbols.  The children are asked to write main ideas of each topic in complex sentences and also to write any new information learned as a response to reading.

Math:  We have continued work on addition regrouping to 2 digits.  I am thrilled at the ease they have displayed understanding and computation.

Writing:  The students gave written Major Accomplishment sections and Conclusions for their PowerPoints and typed them in.  We are now beginning work on transitions and sound effects...the fun part!

Science:  We are continuing work on our Simple Machines unit.  You may be hearing your child use words like, force, friction, pull, inclined plane...  I was thrilled to see that many of your children used words from our Lab Reports in their science fair projects!

Thank you so much to all the parents who attended Parent Conferences.  Although they are optional, I am excited to share your child's progress and good news with you.  I have the BEST kids.
Have a great weekend.
