Welcome to March!  It certainly has come in like a lion!  We have been busy in our room.

Math:  We are working on Subtraction regrouping using Base 10 blocks.  We are just starting to use paper and pencil models to show why and how regrouping is actually done.  We also took our March timed fact tests.  Most children are ahead of the requirement at this point!  We also took the District midyear assessment but I haven't received the results back yet.

Reading:  The students are becoming very independent now.  They are reading passages and answering questions.  This week we continued to review elements of fiction writing and writing responses to those passages.

Science:  We are continuing in our very hands-on exciting Balancing and Wighing unit.  The students continued to work with beam balances, made mobiles and assembled equal arm balance scales.

Writing:  We are beginning to wrap up our informational writing unit.  Students are working on developing Tables of Contents and intriguing introductions.

We attended our fifth grade buddies Wax Museum.  It was exciting to see another approach to biography presentations.

I sent out the March book order.  It is due back on March 13th.  Picture Day is coming!  Please fill out and return the form if you would like to receive your child's spring portrait.
